Leg Pain and Swelling for the Lymphatic Massage Therapist
Many clients seek massage for aches and pains that affect their quality of life. While most clients’ pain is a result of their daily activity (and inactivity), some symptoms may be a result of undiagnosed arterial, venous and lymphatic disease. ‘Leg Pain and Swelling for the Lymphatic Massage Therapist’ class shares research on peripheral arterial disease (PAD), chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), lymphedema and lipedema. We will learn about how clients may experience skin changes, pain and swelling in each of these conditions. We will explore research on which types of massage are recommended for each disease. We will also look at pharmaceuticals that may cause leg swelling and how sex/gender may interact with each condition.
