Lymphatic Massage Therapists :
Have you recieved a phone call from a client who would like to know if you can reduce their swelling after a tummy tuck? This is the class for you!
A tummy tuck client was my first 'plastic surgery client' after I got my MLD certificate. I was confident in my manual lymphatic drainage skills but did NOT know enough about the operation itself, the prescription medications she was taking or best practices to ensure she had the best recovery possible.
I put all the things I have learned and researched in the past five years helping tummy tuck clients recover in the first few months after surgery into this class.
Help reduce your client's swelling while keeping them safe with the research-based information you learn in the Massage after Tummy Tuck class.
This is a one hour CE class is for trained
Manual Lymphatic Drainage therapists only.
I do NOT teach manual lymphatic drainage in this class, and you WILL need to know manual lymphatic drainage to help these clients.
I do not teach myofascial, scar massage, fibrosis cupping or other techniques that may be helpful for tummy tuck clients dealing with adhesions or fibrosis after they have recovered from surgery. This one hour class focuses on helping clients in the first few weeks after surgery.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this course, students will have knowledge of several abdominal plastic surgery procedures as well as massage modalities that can help patient recovery.
LEARNING OUTCOME: Students will demonstrate familiarity with popular abdominal wall contouring plastic surgery procedures, including their side effects and how massage can benefit client recovery.
Course Objectives:
List reasons why clients choose abdominoplasty
List potential side effects of abdominoplasty
List medications the client may be taking
Describe what happens to lymphatic pathways after an abdominoplasty
List contraindications to massage
Design a sample session for a post-op client based on your current knowledge and skills
